The Weekend Is Here, It's Cocktail Time!

While we were in Florida we put down a cocktail or two and there were two in particular that I needed the recipe for! So, here they are. I couldn't help but share such deliciousness!

Blueberry Martini- Courtesy of Michael's Papa

2.5 oz Stoli Blueberry Vodka
3/4 oz Triple Sec
1.5 oz Margarita Mix (I used Joe Cuervo but I've also made it with sweet and sour mix)
Splash of lime juice

Throw ingredients together into a shaker filled with ice; shake and pour. For an extra touch, rim the martini glass with sugar.

Raspberry Cosmo- Recipe Courtesy of Ruth's Chris Steakhouse

1.5 oz Absolute Raspberry
1/2 oz Simple Syrup (1/2 water 1/2 parts sugar brought to a boil then cooled)
1/2 oz Cranberry Juice
1/2 oz lime juice
.25 oz Cointreau

Throw ingredients together into a shaker filled with ice; shake and pour. Garnish with raspberries and rosemary.

Enjoy!

Travel List: Updated

I wrote an earlier dream travel list here but since Pinterest came along (you can follow my pins here) I especially love to collect recipes to try and my ultimate favorite, add photos and pins to my Places I'd Like to Go board. I've just added some new places that would be an absolute dream to visit like Blue Lagoon in Iceland and St. Moritz in Switzerland. Obviously there are the staples like Italy and Hawaii but I just wanted to share with you since the list has been growing.

Blue Lagoon, Iceland

Lake Louise, Canada

Italy

Have a lovely weekend!

Blog Lovin Wednesday; Versaille Memories

Happy Wednesday!

I'm so happy to be writing from the beautiful, sunny, and balmy Florida! What a happy girl I am being in the warm climate. There's just something about the ocean that brings out the best in me.

I wanted to post a little blog-lovin' while I'm away on vacay because my girl Sigourney at A Sip of Style posted this the other day which I obviously love because it includes The Palace of Versailles! Amazing, stunning, breathtaking Versailles. Nothing compares so I wanted to share this post of hers.

In case you have forgotten  how much I loved visiting Versailles while in Northern France I'll link you to this post and share a few more pictures. I cannot emphasize enough how much I think you should take the time out of your trip to see Versailles if you visit France. It was worth every penny and I would love to go back and visit when the gardens are in bloom and would pay a pretty hefty penny in order to do so.

Hope you enjoyed! Happy hump day, don't worry I'll keep posting from Boca!

It's 2012 right? So why are we still arguing for our rights?

Jen's post about women's rights caught my attention for more than a few reasons. Here's a sneak peek for you so you can see how I became aware of this. The craziest thing is KS isn't the only state and Mary Pilcher-Cook isn't the only person pushing this crap on us. Really? I thought we won this battle days/months/years/decades ago? No? Apparently not.

Be aware. Spread the word. Bring awareness. Make a change.

c/o Jen from PIWTPITT

**Please note that these are my views and I do not wish to push them upon others. If you don't share my views on women's rights to pro choice, etc. then don't read this post or let it upset you. If it does upset you, you need to get a new hobby.

Met Gala Musings

If you're like me and have a guilty pleasure of reading celebrity gossip then you're fully aware that the Met gala was the other evening and everyone and their mom showed up to wow in some of the most beautiful gowns and most ridiculous fashion flops.

Below are my faves with maybe a few notes here and there. You can't even pay me to post or write about the uggo's. Honestly, I can't believe some celebs PAY people to let them walk out of their homes in some of this shit. Ridic.

Glee's Diana Agron looking stunning
John Hamm and Emily Blunt
Really Tom & Giselle? Because we all didn't know you had it all before. So sexy.
What is up with J.Alba lately? Just rockin her shit everywhere and always stunning
Julianne Hough
Kate Bosworth
Kristen Bell
Leighton Meister
Where did Renee Zellweger come from? I thought she died. Way to look fab B.Jones
ScarJo looks so effortlessly sexy, what's new though?
And the best thing that came from the Twilight series, Ashley Greene

Now that we got that out of the way, maybe I can blog about something more meaningful like my cute dog.

Traveling with Rue

Over the last week Rue and I took quite the adventure around Southern MN and let's just say I've learned a bit about her traveling personality.

First off, the morning before we left we made an impromptu visit to the Vet so she could get her first Rabies shot, her first Bordatella (a.k.a. kennel cough), and her booster distemper shot. We also had her EU microchip inserted. I got mine from the AKC website which is incredibly reasonable and my Vet injected it for free. This 15-digit microchip is a NECESSITY for traveling throughout Europe next year and is just a great thing to have for your pet regardless if you're traveling or not.

Secondly, Rue is apparently really bad at recognizing social queues from other animals. We spent five days with my girlfriend, A, who has 2 cats and let's just say they were way less interested in her than she was in them. Apparently when cats hiss and claw at you means "let's play more" in Rue's mind. Silly dog.

Lastly, we spent another day with a different girlfriend who had a 1 year old lab who was more than happy to play with Rue but was a bit aggressive right away and to be honest, I've never seen Rue be so rude or bratty to another dog. I've pin-pointed her attitude problem to 3 hours of driving in the car, not being home for 5 days, and being jostled into a noisy environment of a bunch of girls at a bridal shower/bachelorette party.

Silly idea on my part? Yes, a little. But was I really going to leave my dog for a week when I wasn't even doing anything that I couldn't do without her? No. I also brought her kennel along in case she needed a safe house and it's my firm belief that if she is to live the "hockey lifestyle" of constant travel and unknown, she needs to be acclimated into it at an early age. Overall, I think the experience was good for both of us; I learned Rue's limits and she learned how to quickly adjust. Not once over the course of our impromptu vacay did she stop eating, act naughty, or have an accident in the house. To the contrary, I believe all the traveling helped solidify Rue's progress in potty training. I can't pinpoint what exactly helped, but we didn't have one single accident over the last 8 days.

Anyway, just thought I would update you on how baby girl is doing. I'll keep posting products that work for us. We're still on Blue Buffalo food which is still going well and I've actually purchased a new collar and I.D. tag from Etsy that I can't wait to post pictures of when they arrive in the mail.

Hump Day Blog Love

A while ago I posted some great articles that I found off Christine Gilbert's website Almost Fearless here. Here is another post relating specifically to one of the articles I connected with on her website called 8 Things I Wish I Knew When I Was 20. If you haven't checked out her website or the great posts I've listed from her website previously, DO IT NOW! You won't regret it.

Back to the topic at hand: I wanted to share this great guest post from Fairy Tales Are True  about lessons that she's learned in her 20's. Lately, I'm all about self-discovery and looking within to find answers and better myself so this post hit home for me especially since I'm in the midst of my 20's. Hope you enjoy it, relate to it, or reap some sort of benefit from this as I have.

Just thought I would send out a little "hey, you should read this" on this great Wednesday.

Happy reading!
