Somebody please take me back to France!
I'm dying already and I've only been home a week. M and I have both been saying we wish we could redo our trip to the French Riviera; not that we would do things differently but we both just had such a blast that we want to relive it over and over. I suppose that's what pictures are for but of course they never do such an amazing experience justice.
First things first- this had been my first "over the pond" flight and I was a bit nervous because I have a decent amount of anxiety when it comes to flying. Thankfully, it went really well and they served free wine (score!) so that helped pass a few hours. The flight from Amsterdam to Marseille was where things got interesting; first of all, everyone but me spoke fluent French on that flight so I kept to myself for the duration. THEN, the gentleman across from me asked if he could have the half of my sandwich I hadn't touched (of course he asked in French but I was able to decipher). This was not an issue, I wasn't hungry and didn't like the kind anyway, so no problem right? THEN he takes the rest of the sandwich half that I had bitten already. AM I ONLY ONE WHO THINKS THIS WAS INAPPROPRIATE?? I mean really, hasn't anybody heard of germs? I don't know one single person who would finish a complete stranger's sandwich. I looked at the passengers around me and it seemed that they were laughing with me, although I can't be sure.
Now we get to the good stuff: seeing M for the first time in exactly 4 months and 1 day. It was surreal to say the least. It was the longest we have ever gone without seeing each other and it felt like I was seeing a ghost. I had been looking at this man through a computer for the past four months and now I was touching him, it felt really crazy in the best possible way.
After M picked me up we were heading to Nice to begin our week of vacation in the Riviera; we took a break in Aix en Provence so I could stretch my legs and have a snack. Here are a couple photos form Aix (pronounced X)...
Can I just say that France was everything I had hoped for and more? The architecture and the buildings were exactly as they're portrayed in movies, even the Disney classics. The atmosphere was so old world it was breathtaking. It was just amazing to be in a place filled with so much history. Not like the States doesn't have history but you know what I'm sayin'.
After our little break of pan au chocolat (a chocolate filled pastry) and vin rouge (white wine) at a cafe in Aix we hopped in the car and were on our way to Nice, which is a different post in itself.
Happy hump day!
Love&Luck
