I LOVE celebrity gossip. It's annoying and a nasty habit but I just can't help myself from picking up those cheap magazines in the check-out isle at the grocery store. I figure there are worse habits (smoking, drinking, etc.) so I let my guilty pleasure slide for now.
Of course the news broke yesterday that Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from Kris Humphries. I had money that they would get divorced around 7-8 months of marriage, apparently I was too lenient. Can you believe this nonsense? 72 days?! My roommate said it best, "About as much consideration went into the divorce as the wedding" when we heard Kim's statement "I have decided to end my marriage after careful consideration" or something to that degree.
Tabloids are saying they were having trouble figuring out where to settle down. Isn't that what the dating stage or engagement were for? Don't people talk about that before they say vows? For me, Michael and I have the "where are we going to live" talk 1-2 times a year depending on his season so this is a topic we usually discuss frequently and at length. We have already discussed where we would like to settle down after hockey and where we would like to raise our children. Although I can't say in concrete terms that we have agreed to a certain place, we certainly have a clear idea of what each other's expectations are.
In one word: RIDICULOUS.
I'm still trying to figure out if the whole thing was a sham because what is the point? What happened to trying to work through things? And is Kris really devastated?
The mystery remains unsolved, I hope one day it all gets explained.
In other news, I am continuing to read The Art of Racing in the Rain and so far it is a goody. I'm currently enjoying a nice glass of red zinfandel while doing a little job searching. If you haven't noticed, I would love an opportunity to work from home (essentially Europe, that would let me move anywhere and still hold a job). So if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
I'm also watching House Hunters International which is another guilty pleasure of mine; I'm dying to move and live in another country. How great would it be to immerse yourself in the culture? I'm brushing up on my French for when I visit Michael. We have somewhat of an agenda planned and I'm even more happy to say that he is picking me up from the airport and we are heading straight to Nice. Nice boyfriend, eh?
Have a good week bloggers!
